Today son you are one month two weeks and three days old.  Your daddy and I just got home from the hospital.  Well last night we went to visit you and you were at 3 lbs 15 oz.  According to the doctor and the nurses the more weight that you gained the closer that you were to getting to an open crib and just that much closer to getting to come home.  Okay so tonight we went hoping that you gained an ounce or two to push you over the 4lb mark.  Tonight we arrived at the hospital and you were looking especially cute.

First of all the nurse told us that you drank 60 ml in your last feeding, your minimum amount is 36ml.  : D  We stayed for your midnight feeding and got to speak with the doctor and she was telling us that you pretty much have done everything that you needed to do now you just have to continue to gain weight.  We asked about your tube feeding and she said that you didn’t need it anymore and she told the nurse to take it out.  Me and daddy were SO excited.    Midnight rolled around and your daddy fed you and you downed 50 ml.  like some super baby!!  🙂  No coughing, spitting up, nothing,  drank your milk like a champ.  Then came the weighing..(ooooohhh)  Well son, in 24 hours you managed to gain 100 grams which is roughly about 3.5 oz.  YES I said 3.5 oz.  and you are now at 4lbs 3.9 oz.  Yoooohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!   Funny thing was that the nurse  weighed you like 3 different times to make sure that the weight was right. lol..yep that’s my little man.

So now we are waiting for you to come home honey bunny 🙂  soon, very soon.

First Bottle Feeding YAY 61211

Today there was a nice surprise waiting for me at the hospital.  When I got there the nurse let me know that they were going to begin trying to bottle feed.  “:)  OMG  Totally made my day.  Judah’s nurse sat next to me and let me know that she would watch to make sure that he was breathing and swallowing at the same time.  Well he did excellent!  He drank and finished his entire bottle (27 ml) in just under 15 min.  No choking or breathing issues  😀

Update June 11, 11

Checking over my last posts I realize that it’s been several days since I’ve updated my blog.  I think that I have been really busy, I think.  We had company all weekend and things just got behind.

Today my baby is one month, one week and two days old.  His adjusted gestational age is 32 weeks and five days.  As of now Judah is completely off of his nasal cannula and has been for the past three days.  He is doing so well, gaining weight and taking his feedings really well.  In the next couple of days he will hopefully be weened off of the heat in his isolette.  I CANNOT wait till my son is here at home with me.  😦  I really hate leaving him at the hospital and I hate having people aka nurses looking over my shoulders.  It drives me crazy!!  But that’s a whole post in its self.

Over the last couple of days there have been several bumps but God is good and has come through each and every time.  One- we were told that my baby has what is called atrial septal defect- asd- which pretty much mean that he has a tiny hole in his heart.  Dr said that there isn’t too much of a concern at this point but we will have to have him checked out by a cardiologist when he leaves the hospital.  Two- Judah had a scan of his brain a couple of weeks ago and when I asked about the results the nurse said to me: “oh he is great.  the small bleed is completely gone.”  WHAT?????  First of all I don’t even remember the first scan.  I’m so thankful that everything is okay.  Having said all of that there is one thing that I am looking forward to and that is to bring this little guy home.

This is Judah without the nasal cannula. 😉

Kagaroo care- he loves it as much as I do!!

I could literally stare at  him ALL day!

Getting weighed in.
